Fallon, NV at a Glance
Fallon, known as the Oasis of Nevada,
is situated on rich agricultural lands found amidst desert, east of Carson
City in the Reno and Lake
Tahoe region. This city boasts fast-paced activities and attractions, including
drag races, bike races and car races held at the Rattlesnake
Raceway and the Top
Gun Racetrack (March to November), the National
Air Show (May) and the Silver
State International Rodeo (July). History in the area traces back to the Pony
Express, where today the Churchill
County Museum helps visitors learn the history of this postal delivery service.
At the Fallon
Naval Air Force Base, guided tours are available by reservation for guests
wanting to explore the facility where many fighter pilots are trained. In a state
famous for casinos, Fallon has its share of them, including the Depot
Casino and the Stockman's
Casino. Travelers interested in the outdoors can hike up to Hidden
Cave or birdwatch at the nearby Stillwater
National Wildlife Refuge.
